The company we enlisted to help us move from the UK back to the States came last week to take our stuff on a boat. We are officially in moving mode now (and have been for some time). Chaos rules.
We’re not shipping much (around 200 cubic feet). The funny thing with moving companies, though, is that they always seem to be able to take more than you think they can. We had what we thought would fit, plus some extra in case there was room, and we got all that and then some into the van. They (we used Anglo Pacific this time) are estimating we’ll see our stuff again on the other side of the ocean in 2-3 months.
This is part 1 of our move, the part where we send some of the things we can live without for a couple of months but that isn’t worth re-buying (or personal things that we can’t replace).
Part 2 is coming next month, where we try to stuff the remainder into a few suitcases and maybe a box or two via a luggage delivery service (like sendmybag.com).
No turning back now! 🎉
