Running my first marathon
One of my goals for this year was to run a full marathon. I’ve run a half-marathon a half-dozen times in the past, but a full one always felt out of reach. In the past year, all that changed, and I finally did it!

Notes from the trail 03.11
My training plan for the upcoming marathon (this Sunday!) was rudely interrupted by an obligatory work trip to Cancún. I know right? The nerve! I dealt with it because I love travel running. There are worse places to have a few tune up runs. 😉

Notes from the trail 02.17
I ran a 20 miler last week, and it hurt a bit more than I expected, but I’m basically where I need to be now for the marathon, and that feels good!

Notes from the trail 01.30
I reached a new milestone last week with a 15-miler. I texted my wife and said just 11.2 more miles. I’ve got a marathon in my sights now.

Notes from the trail 01.06
I was on an upward trend with my running all through 2024, and I hope to continue into the new year. I’ve also been lucky to capture some cool (to me) photos along the way. Look, an eagle!!

Notes from the trail 12.13
I explored another part of the 22-mile long American Tobacco Trail today. It’s straight, flat, and seemingly never ending. Some might call it boring, and there are times where I think that too, but other times it cultivates a zone that’s as close to “meditative running” as I’ve ever experienced.

Notes from the trail 12.06
I switched it up this week and tried a different loop for my long run this week: Lake Johnson and Lake Raleigh, both of which are connected via an urban greenway. It was perfect running weather this week, sunny and cold, so the base layers, beanie, and gloves were definitely equipped.
