Like riding a bike
There are few things like learning to ride a bike. The process is different for everyone, but the way it suddenly “clicks” and you go from not being able to balance, pedal, and steer to being able to do all those things, and never forgetting it again in your life, is magic.

I don’t want to go to karate
Some of my most memorable experiences have come after pushing (or being pushed) through fear and discomfort. Now I get to pass on the same lesson to my kids. It’s ok. You’ll thank me later.

Talent isn’t given, it’s made
In most cases, when we say someone is talented at something, we mean that they have a natural gift. I don’t agree with that definition. I want to teach my kids that talent is made, not given, by being intensely interested in something and putting a lot of time and effort into doing it.
