Notes from the trail 05.16

running club

I’m trying to run 5 miles a day and crest 150 miles in the month of May. I’m at the midpoint, and it’s going ok, but the weather looks like it might crank up the difficulty setting to legendary. Today we had a 96 degree heat index and it’s just getting started.

The genesis of this idea was to see if running more frequent, but shorter, runs is any different from my usual cadence of 3–4 runs for longish distances while training for a marathon. I also just wanted to do something different while on sabbatical because, well, why not.

On my quest to get to 150, I’ve made sure to get 5 miles per day minimum, and if I know I’m going to miss a day, I’m running extra on the day before. I have a couple of travel days coming up, so I’m to preemptively running a little extra to make up for them (the 6-mile runs).

So far, the extra mileage/frequency feels good. Onwards!
