“Once we stop wishing it were summer, winter can be a glorious season when the world takes on a sparse beauty, and even the pavements sparkle. It’s a time for reflection and recuperation, for slow replenishment, for putting your house in order.” (Katherine May, Wintering)
I started reading this book recently called Wintering by Katherine May. It seems like a book about how to deal with grief and loss but it’s actually just as much (or more so) about the general shit we all deal with in life and it’s awesome.
I haven’t been writing or drawing much and I’ve felt in a bit of a “winter” creatively, so that lines up with the choice of books here. The only drawings I’ve done for the past few months are these, and they seem to encapsulate a wintering mood.

I’m looking forward to wintering for “reflection and recuperation, for slow replenishment” in 2023.
