Will freaking out help?

I came across the following questions while reading Brené Brown’s Atlas of the Heart (thanks Mom).

Ask yourself these the next time you are feeling fear, panic, or anxiety rising:

  1. Do I have enough information to freak out?
    The answer is probably not.
  2. Will freaking out help?
    The answer is always no.

If, like me, you do still freak out more than you would like to, try taking your “self” out of it.

Or, try taking a time out.

As Brené mentions in her book:

“I’ve never once regretted taking a time out at home or work. Not once. I’ve never experienced a little time and space being a bad thing but i have plenty of regrets the other way around.”
