“Here I am as a human being, how can I express myself totally and completely? […] It’s a process of continual growth.”
I recently learned about an interview with Bruce Lee from 1971 known as “the lost interview”. It’s totally captivating. I highly recommend spending 25 mins to watch it.
I haven’t read a lot about Bruce Lee, but I have to admit that the scene about him in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood kind of tainted his image in my head by portraying him as a cocky jerk on the movie set.
This interview totally changed corrected that.
“You know what I want to think of myself?” in response to whether Lee thought of himself as a Chinese or North American. “As a human being. I don’t want to sound like Confucius, but under the sky, under the heavens, there is but one family. It just so happens, man, that people are different.”
