What I learned last week (#155): foolproof

With Christmas now over, I can say I appreciate great packaging as much as great product design. This quote is kind of related to feeling like a fool when faced with a foolproof package.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

It was the solstice last week and I had the urge to document just how dark it is now.

As I mentioned, it is winter and it is dark, so what shall I do with this moment? Best to enjoy the darkness and what it allows me to do versus what it doesn’t. Blaming the weather is a trap.

Roz Zander teaches us to avoid, “I’m on vacation but it’s raining.” It’s far more powerful and useful to think, “I’m on vacation and it’s raining… what should I do with this moment?”

From my favorite weekly series of last year, this is for my bike-crazy friend Alex but also for anyone who likes great short-films. Amazing.

Last but not least, check out what I’m up to now.

  1. That’s such a sick video, watched it a couple weeks ago with the boys, glad you found it!
