I have always listed to a lot of music, and always have music playing while I work, cook and generally anytime I can put something on I will. Here is a selection of some of the music keeping me company during my favorite time of year.
fabric presents Bonobo
I work pretty regularly at night and I have been tending to listed to electronic mixes during these times, headphones on. This mix gets played start to front often, along with mixes from Maxeus (aka my buddy Matt) and KEXP’s Midnight in a Perfect World.
Sault – Untitled (Rise)
The mysterious R&B, jazz, afrobeat, super-group can do no wrong. They released two albums last year and this is the second this year. I play this in the late morning or afternoon often.
Gareth Coker – Ori and the Will of the Wisps Soundtrack
The soundtrack to a game I’m playing right now, it’s also a great soundtrack for an evening spent drawing or otherwise doing things around the house.
Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, 9th Wonder – Dinner Party
Good for morning, noon, and night. My only complaint is that I wish it was three times as long.
Duval Timothy – Brown Loop
Piano music. Shades of Philip Glass. Perfect for morning work or evening chill out. I also love his earlier album Sen Am.
Bronson
More beats. A collaboration between Odeza and Golden Features. Odeza are one of my favorites. This one is great for the afternoon.
