July has been HOT here in NC. Basically everywhere I guess is boiling. Feels like it’s hotter than usual but we probably say that every year. Anyway, lots of good music this month. Here are my faves.
SML – Spontaneous Music Live
This is just incredible. The album is only 2 tracks, but both are >20 minutes. The best work music.
Khun Narin – III
Psychedelic instrumental rock from a loosely knit collective of musicians in Thailand. So good.
Nicholas Payton & Butcher Brown – A Supreme Blue
Butcher Brown is one of my faves, and this revisiting/ode to Miles and Coltrane is brilliant.
Charley Crockett – Clovis
Charley Crockett releases a lot of albums, and not all of them grab me, but this one did for sure.
Lisathe – Watch Out For The Horse Behind You
Improvisational mix of jazz and rock? Yes! I’ve been playing this many a morning this month. So good.
Other albums that I’ve been jamming to:
- Nate Smith & CARRTOONS – FATHERS
- Jack White – Frozen Charlotte
- Baby Rose – YEARNALISM
- Greg Kramer – Heat Check
- Four Tet aka WingDings aka 🕈︎♓︎■︎♑︎♎︎♓︎■︎♑︎⬧︎ – New Album
- Kamaal Williams – Last Night In Paris
- Blue Earth Sound – The St. Louis Sessions EP
Remember to support the artists you love, and if you want to peruse some of the previous new music posts from this year, do it!
