This graduation speech from Jim Carrey is really good. Sure, the background music is a little much, and the edits are a bit rough at times, but it’s worth 8 minutes of your life, I promise.
I’m reading a few books that line up with the messages within. Inner Excellence and Awareness both have strong themes around the perils of letting our ego drive your life, and the former even references one of the lines here.
It looks like this speech was from the 2014 Maharishi International University of Management class graduation (?), and, in that ceremony, Jim Carrey was given a Doctor of Fine Arts degree (!).
Anyway, the full transcript and recording of the speech is pretty great too.
Right up there with the best (I’m looking at you, DFW This is Water).
