Rio Kosta, Arc De Soleil, and more of my favorite albums from August 2025

I’ve been way behind in sharing music. I blame the dog, but really I’ve just been busy doing other stuff. It’s not the music’s fault. There have been lots of great new albums coming out as usual. I’ve already got quite a few for September queued up. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, though. Here are my favorite albums from August. Enjoy!

Rio Kosta – Unicorn

I’d never heard of this band before this album, but I freaking love it, and I’ve been playing it nonstop. I wouldn’t ever say that I gravitate toward psychedelic rock, and there are definitely shades of that in Rio Kosta’s music, but there is a lot of funk and groove to this album. It jams.

Arc De Soleil – Lumin Rain

Another new-to-me artist that I listened to basically 50,000 times last month. The guy kind of looks like Prince and plays guitar like him too. It’s a mostly instrumental album, and wow, does it fly. It’s the best soundtrack for basically every day.

Greg Foat, Jihad Darwish – Opening Time

Yes, I put Greg Foat on my list seemingly every month, but there is a reason for that. He always has different collaborators with him and is prolific with his releases. This one has a unique piano-focused character. I’m oh so grateful for it. Beautiful stuff.

The Circling Sun – Orbits

Another beautiful jazz album that kept me company all month.

JID – God Does Like Ugly

Lots of good hip-hop this year and this is one that’s stuck with me. Reminds me of Outkast and Goodie Mob. I really like his track with Freddie Gibbs.

Other albums that I’ve been jamming to:

That’s all for me this month. I’m still thinking about moving off of Spotify but it’s so easy…yeah, maybe one day.

On that note, remember to support the artists you love and if you want to puruse some of the previous new music posts from this year do it!
