“I feel like I’ve been mentalized 24/7 for the past 10 years, the whole time I’ve been an adult human in this late capitalist, techno world of social media and attention economy. That’s when I was like, oh, I think this is what the album is.”

Skeleten on new album Mentalized

Here are my favorite albums from February 2025.

Maribou State – Hallucinating Love

These guys make the kind of electronic music that I can play anytime. A good mix of up tempo and down, a little bit of a deep house vibe and always good vocals.

Skeleten – Mentalized

This is a new-to-me artist and another electronic album with a bit more of a funky mix of trip hop, dance, and chill-out beats. Reminds me a bit of Nightmares on Wax and that’s a great thing.

Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory

The amazing voice of Sharon and her band is magic. I’m not super familiar with all her work, but this one is a little more ambient and 80s feeling than anything she’s done previous. It still rocks.

HORSEBATH – Another Farewell

Some country rock mixed with a little psychedelia. Reminiscent of My Morning Jacket and Lord Huron. This is their debut album and I can’t wait for more. So good.

Fat Ray & Black Milk – Food From the Gods

An absolute master class of a rap album.

Other albums that found their way to me (and stayed) this month:

I love discovering new music and hope sharing my finds inspires you to check out something different (and support the artists you love). Happy listening. ✌️
