Moving the goal posts
“When you were younger, you probably dreamed about having what you have now. You have since moved the goalposts.”
This popped up as a recent “daily mindfulness reminder” in my Waking Up app. I didn’t have the exact text but paraphrased it as best I could. Like reading poetry, I might be grabbed by one in a hundred reminders, but this one got me.
It helps to keep this in perspective when you start looking at every day as the same chore…
