It had been a long time since I got out on a hike (5 months to be exact) but today I had a rare Monday off, plus the weather was dry, so I had to take advantage.
I decided to hike up Meikle Bin, the second-highest point in the Campsie Fells. It’s basically my “local” hill as I can see if from our village easily on a clear day although it’s still a good 45 min drive to get to the trail head. I’ve climbed it previously in the snow. Today though, was much nicer.
After, when I went to pick up the kids from school, my daughter asked me what the point was for them to go to school today when they have the next two days off (for school strikes). “Well,” I said, “so I can have an awesome day off and go hiking!”
She looked at me and we both grinned.
It was a good day off. 😃
