My favorite albums of June 2022

Artist Black Coffee

I love searching out new music. June felt like a bit of a slow month in that regard but I still found plenty to share. Here are my favorite album discoveries from the past month.

Sault – AIR

As a group known to me for their funky and soulful sounds, this lush classical album was totally confusing for me at first. This month, it hit me though and I love it. An amazing soundtrack for my morning.

Foals – Life Is Yours

This album is full-on energy and feel-good vibes. A big departure from their previous work. Perfect for the summer.

Black Coffee – Subconsciously

My coworker turned me on to this. I had heard a few tracks on different compilations but never the whole album from this afrobeat EDM artist. Perfect nighttime album.

Pam Amsterdam and Damu the Fudgemunk – EAT

An indie hip-hop album that has echoes of MF Doom meets Souls of Mischief. I love the beats and the crazy weird (and smart) rhymes feel like a breath of fresh air.

Angel Olsen – Big Time

A very pretty country album. Angel’s voice is so good.

Honorable mentions

Clinton Fearon – Breaking News

Benny Sings – Santa Barbara

E L U C I D – I told Bessie
