Ah…good old February, I’m not going to miss you. I’m so glad you and your storms are behind us. Thanks for the new music though, that was nice!
Here is a list of five of my favorite albums from February 2022, featuring St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Blue Lab Beats, Saba + more 🔈
Not sure if this list is for you? My musical tastes vary widely, but you’ll generally always find hip-hop, jazz, funk, or a blend of each in the selections along with the occasional country, rock, and reggae album. I’m always looking for new (and old) music so any recommendations are welcome!

Also, you can find a playlist of tracks that I love on my Right About Now playlist. 🎧
St. Paul & The Broken Bones
The Alien Coast
An incredibly funky and soulful rock album. Reminds me of TV on the Radio but they make a strong case for a place all their own next to those legends after this one. This is tied for my favorite album of the month.
Blue Lab Beats
Motherland Journey
One of my favorite groups of the past year+ and their latest doesn’t disappoint. A fusion of afro-beat, jazz, hip-hop, and so much more. My other co-favorite of the moment.
Saba
Few Good Things
The clear hip-hop standout this month and of the year so far. Outkast and Kendrick inspired rap that gets better with each listen.
Animal Collective
Time Skiffs
A weird-at-times album of eclectic pop-ish songs that are rhythmic and catchy and “bright”. I’ve really enjoyed this one. That intro to Prester John is 🌈🌈
Joy Orbison
Still Slipping Vol 1
This album came out last year and it missed me, but this “mixtape” of electronic tracks hits the right notes for my mood at the moment. Good evening music.
Honorable mentions ✌️
Some other music that has been on repeat is Black Radio III from Robert Glasper and Khruangbin and Leon Bridges’s EP Texas Moon, which pairs very perfectly with their previous EP Texas Sun for a complete whole.
