First race in six years

Medal from completing the Seattle half-marathon next to a glass of beer.

For the last ten years, running has been my primary source of exercise and one of the things that I do no matter what (i.e., running in the rain). I’ve participated in at least one or more races every year during the last ten years, but 2020 was an exception, unsurprisingly. I’m hoping to get back to it this year, though, and have something to aim for as a training goal.

On that note, I just registered for the Great Scottish Run later this year (Oct 3rd) which will be my first race outside the states and, most surprising to me, my first half-marathon in six years. I haven’t thought much about my training goal other than getting back on a course and keeping pace with my 2015-self. This would mean hitting sub-8 minute miles on average.

I don’t have a great trend going at the moment, though, as monthly mileage shows a distinct downward trend as of late, but my pace remains consistent.

My average page for running per month over the last year is unchanging 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m going to need to kick it up a notch to have a good time in 2021.

Got my work cut out for me… 🏃🏃🏽 🏃🏽‍♂️

Kudos to theleadlesspencil for reminding me that I should get back to a race this year via their recent post A Real Race.
